1. Work hard

There is no substitute for hard work, so if you want something badly enough you need to be prepared to put in a lot of time and effort.

2. Balanced approach

Look at every aspect of your horse’s lifestyle, not just the riding side. My horses are fed NAF supplements and the company has been very helpful in helping me choose the right ones for their individual needs.

3. Stay grounded

Never think you are better than you are. Enjoy a win, but then focus on the next challenge and put all your energy into that. You will always have good and bad days and horses are great at bringing you back down to earth.

4. Gain Experience

Ride different horses, if possible, to gain as much experience as you can and so you can learn to deal with a variety of problems. This will be a huge contributing factor in making you a better rider.

5. Focus on the flat

Flatwork is the basis for everything, so always pay attention to your horse’s schooling and revisit the basics regularly.
