Strictly come show jumping?

Hark back to the heady summer of 2006.

Yes, the good old days, when we actually got some half-decent weather, and show jumping was on mainstream television almost every day.

I refer, of course, to Only Fools on Horses, the reality show that hit our screens more than two years ago and attempted to turn non-riding celebrities into show jumping stars.

There might have been the odd bit of ropey riding going on – those horses made saints look impatient – but overall, it was highly entertaining.

Who can remember Matt Littler's crashing fall out of the side door? What about Diarmuid Gavin's inelegant but enthusiastic riding style? And the surprising zero-to-hero win of GMTV's Jenni Falconer?

And best of all, the series got lots of people interested in equestrianism, and made loads of money for the BBC's Sport Relief.

Which makes me think – shouldn't we bring back Only Fools for another series? If they hold another Sport Relief in 2010, can't riding be part of it again?

After all, Only Fools had all the glamour of Strictly Come Dancing, the danger of Dancing on Ice, and the, errr, out-of-tune singing of X Factor. Possibly.

So what do you think? Would you like to see the return of Only Fools? Or should it be consigned to television history?

UPDATE: our survey on www.horsemagazine.co.uk showed that readers were very keen to see a reprisal of the show, with 89 per cent of respondents saying they would watch a new series of Only Fools on Horses. According to a source, the content for the 2010 Sport Relief has not yet been decided, so there is plenty of time to contact the BBC for a repeat performance!
